Help Us Stop the Shutdown

More than 800,000 federal workers and contractors, including thousands of IAM and NFFE-IAM Federal District 1 members, are affected by this needless government shutdown. Our members and their families are about to face their first payday without a paycheck this week.

Here’s what you can do NOW to help:

1) Call our hotline at 866-803-8830 and ask your U.S. Senators to demand a vote NOW to end the shutdown and put our federal workers and contractors back to work with pay.

2) Use our online form to write your Senators asking them to push Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to bring a vote opening the government to the Senate floor immediately.

3) If you live in the Washington, DC area, attend tomorrow’s rally.

“The patience of IAM and NFFE-IAM members is being tested,” said Machinists Union International President Bob Martinez. “The politics being played by our elected officials is sickening and downright disrespectful. Our members provide vital services every day and they do their jobs with honor and dignity. Our members and their families should not have to suffer because of bitter partisanship battles. This shutdown must end now before it causes further damage to America’s economy and our working families. If politicians want to have a debate about the wall or border security, they should not do it on the backs our federal workers and their families. I call on President Trump and the United States Senate to do the right thing and put our federal workers back to work.”

Martinez has directed the IAM Government Employees Department to gather the following guidance to assist members affected by the government shutdown:
